4-26-18 Unit 3 Reflection
I chose my genre/medium based off what I felt comfortable using to best show my work and something that I knew well. Instagram is an application that I use daily and an app that has a lot of features that I wanted to utilize to show how technology has influenced social media. I think the fact that there were so many features allowed me to make my point stronger. I utilized the tagging feature, disabling comments on a few posts, having a caption, creating a story, and one of their newest features, allowing more than one picture. Another new feature that I wanted to utilize but didn't get to do so was making a live video.
I submitted my Unit 3 project to my projected by keeping my instagram account public for people to view. Additionally, I followed brands and celebrities because something that I noticed from my experience on Instagram is that other users that follow people tend to go through the celebrities followings to find accounts to follow.
I also posted my pitch onto twitter, where I talked about how I wanted people to contact me regarding their thoughts on how social media and technology interact and what they found to be positive/negative. I didn't get any feedback. Ideally, I would like my audience to use by Unit 3 project by maintaining a good balance between using their phones and also being able to keep a conversation going in person. I would like for the audience to respond by stating some specific experiences they've gone through with social media and what they find to be most useful. Additionally, I want my audience to be inspired to go outside their comfort zones and explore on social media.
A direct quote from someone in the class that I received on my blog posts is, "I also liked how you incorporated pictures for each source to further enhance your project." I found this comment useful in how I went about the other units because it made me realize the impact of having graphics to go along with my writing as a way to keep people interested and grab attention.
