3-27-18 Unit 2 Reflection
I choose this piece on the affect of social media on society today because it is frequently debated over and you constantly hear people saying either, "It has benefited me so much." or "I hate how the generation is so distracted by technology." I am personally one of the people that benefited from technology so I wanted to defend it and prove why it is such a good tool.
I choose the audience of this piece by thinking about who technology and social media currently impacts. I came to the conclusion that they impact the younger generations, which are usually the ones using platforms such as Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr, etc. The rhetorical choices I made was asking "Do you think it has affected your life positively or negatively?" because I know that people like to talk about their own lives or even bragging about their social media, especially if they have a large amount of followers or they are especially proud of their "feed". Additionally, I made sure that the flyer look nice or "aesthetically pleasing" to attract more attention.

I thought the quality of the research/sources available was very good because there was a variety and I personally thought they portrayed different points that were all beneficial. They could be improved upon by having more data behind it. I have some but I think having more would further strengthen my position. Some further research I would need to do is finding websites that show the impact of social media in emergency situations because while we know it is likely to be true, having data to back it up strengthens the argument and impacts the audience more.
I was unsuccessful in getting a response and engaging my audience with the Pitch HW. I did follow up on more platforms like Facebook and Twitter by reposting it since I thought it might've been because people didn't see it. I think that is one of the issues about sharing it via social media because so much gets posted every second, minute and hour that what I posted may have got bunched in and was ignored.
I can apply this research method from this project to my life beyond college in that with Supply Chain Management, you have to do a lot of research to find out what consumers are interested in and how much of something they want. Pertaining to my career, I would also have to find out what people are interested in so that I can find a job in that field and ensure that I wouldn't be unemployed due to the lack of interest in the company.
