1-18-18 What I Listen To

The 20-30 minute bus ride from basically the last stop of South Campus to Main is usually occupied with me scrambling to finish last minute work or listening to music.

A few of yesterday's songs that stood out were the following:

This particular upbeat song matched with the mood as it snowed. I am a winter person and the snow brought my mood up considering it was gloomy yesterday from the rain.

Every time I listen to this song, I am brought back to when it was first released and everything that happened at the time. I have many role models and this particular one had went through a difficult situation. This ultimately taught me that despite how bad things get, it eventually gets better and to stick it through.

Everyone has that one song that evokes a flood of memories. This song is one of the many for me; it represented my freshman year as I heard this song everywhere and every time I hear it, I'm reminded of the events that happened with it.

Ever since I heard this song, I've been in love with it and the powerful meaning of the song. I personally believe this song was underrated and the timing was bad as there were other songs from more popular artists that cause this song to be 'shoved under the rug'.

To end on an meaningful note, this particular song was emotional for me as the artist actually passed away recently and the meaning of the lyrics were his last words to the fans in a way by saying we'd see him soon and he is alright where he is.

Reflection

Selfies are both positive and negative. Positive in that people are able to display things they care about and people they value by wearing a certain t-shirt representing them, etc. Additionally, selfies allow people to show their own unique and one-of-a-kind style. This allows people to get a peek of what/how someone may be but it doesn't necessarily show them completely. This brings us to the negative side of selfies. Things can be taken out of context or people may feel the need to criticize something in the photo like the pose or the makeup or how one may look, etc. Sometimes the criticism gets so bad that people feel the need to take certain actions due to how what is being said affects them. While some may be 'thick-skinned', others are sensitive. Once a thought it put into their heads, that ends up being all they think about and they feel the need to make changes to mold into what society wants rather than what they want to be as a unique individual. While this happens quite frequently, it isn't something that always occurs.
